Hello, I'm Allison
Waukesha Portrait Photographer
Photography, to me, has always been about one thing: making sure you can go back.
Back to the way your newborn fit in the crook of your arm. Back to the chaos and the giggles of your kids at exactly this age. Back to the version of your senior in the year before everything changed. The best photos don't just show you what something looked like — they bring back how it felt.
I notice the small things — the way the light falls, the quiet moment between the loud ones, the look that happens when nobody's performing for the camera anymore. That's what I'm trying to get to. Not just beautiful images, but ones that are unmistakably yours.
A little about me
I'm Allison — based in Waukesha with my husband Phil and our dog Mac (full name: Macaroni, and yes, he knows it's ridiculous). My path to photography is a little different than most. I lost both of my parents when I was young, and I don't have photos of us together — the kind you'd frame, the kind your kids would grow up looking at. There's a version of my own family I'd give anything to be able to go back and see, and I can't.
That's a big part of why I do this. Photos aren't just decoration. They're a way of holding onto people, and onto a specific season of your life that's already moving faster than you think. I take that pretty seriously, even when the session itself is full of laughs and goldfish crackers and a toddler who refuses to look at the camera.
Outside of shooting, I love being part of this community — getting to know the people, the places, and the small moments that make this part of Wisconsin feel like home. If you've been meaning to book a session forever and just haven't pulled the trigger, that's the thing I'd most want you to hear from me: don't keep putting it off. Your people are worth a real photo.
FAQ
Where are you located?
I'm based in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and most of my sessions happen at outdoor locations across Waukesha County, the Milwaukee area, and Lake Country. I don't have a studio, so we'll pick a spot that fits your session — a park you love, a field at golden hour, or your own home for newborn and baby sessions.
How far do you travel?
I travel up to about an hour from Waukesha at no extra charge, which covers most of the greater Milwaukee area, Lake Country (Oconomowoc, Delafield, Hartland, Pewaukee), Cedarburg, Mukwonago, and surrounding communities. For sessions further out, just reach out and we can talk through it.
How much do family sessions cost?
Family sessions start at $450, which includes a 60-90 minute session and a curated set of up to 15 hand-edited images delivered within a week. Additional images, prints, and wall art are available so you can build out your gallery after your session. Full pricing details are available on the Investment page.
Do you photograph babies and milestones?
Yes — babies in the 3-to-9-month range are honestly one of my favorite ages to photograph. Sitter sessions, 6-month milestones, and first birthday sessions are all available, and can happen outdoors or in your home. I also offer a First Year package if you'd like to capture more than one moment.
Do you offer mini sessions?
I run seasonal mini sessions a few times a year — typically fall, holiday, and spring — at curated outdoor locations around the Waukesha and Milwaukee area. Spots are limited and they fill quickly, so the best way to know when they're announced is to check my website or follow along on Instagram and Facebook.
Do you photograph high school seniors?
Yes! Senior sessions start at $450 and include a curated set of up to 15 hand-edited images. We'll pick locations that mean something to you, and the whole session is built around your personality and style — not a posed-against-a-tree formula. Additional images, prints, and albums are available if you'd like more from your gallery.
How soon should i book?
For family and senior sessions, 4-6 weeks ahead is usually plenty, though fall books up faster (August through October fills earliest). For baby and milestone sessions, I recommend reaching out as soon as you know you'd like a session, since timing matters more for those — especially if you're aiming for a specific milestone window.
Do you photograph newborns?
I specialize in babies in the 3-to-9-month range — past the sleepy newborn days but before they're running circles around you. If you're looking for traditional posed newborn photography (5-14 days old), I'd be happy to recommend a few photographers in the Milwaukee area who specialize in that.
What should we wear for our session?
I send every client a styling guide once your session is booked, with location-specific suggestions. The short version: stick to soft, complementary tones rather than matching, avoid logos and busy patterns, and wear something you actually feel like yourself in.
